Sony Says Some E-Reader Orders May Miss Christmas

I bought the original Sony Reader a couple of years ago. I recently received an email from Sony saying:

“Sony has created a firmware update for your Reader….Due to the nature of the work required, you will need to send your PRS-500 Reader to the Sony Service Centers for updating. Sony will pay the postage and have your Reader back to you within 14 days.”

Yes this is typical of the Sony Reader. Their website is antiquated and their software is incredibly unreliable. I also have the first and third Kindle models – these are so superior I would never consider buying a Sony. By delaying their Christmas shipments they are probably doing a lot of people a favor – driving more traffic to Amazon.
